Since its not back to school for us we decided to hit the road and head north. We left home about 8:00 and crossed the Thousand Island Bridge without incident other than a surly, full of himself, customs officer. It was a long but familiar drive, as we took this route to Maine last fall on our way to Acadia. After driving through Quebec and New Brunswick, we reached our destination of Aroostook Campground in Maine just before 7:00. There was no one at the gate so we proceeded to our campsite as we had made reservations earlier. When we went to set up though we realized that there was no electric on this site, or any others, which we later learned. Also although assured that the campsite was near the restroom we weren't that close - we have no facilities in our camper. That's what happens when you make reservations through the state and the person you are working with is not familiar with the campgrounds. We set up anyway and switched the refrigerator to propane, used the battery for our lights and all was good. We got something to eat and relaxed for the rest of the evening and went to bed early. We'll explore tomorrow.
