Trip to Australia - Day Eight - February 8, 2018 - Yulara/Uluru Kata Tjuta

This morning we walked over to the Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge for the buffet breakfast at their Bough House Restaurant. They had a very nice and diverse selection of food.  We stopped at the souvenir store there and helped their economy a little and then took the shuttle around to see what other properties on in the compound. There is a campground and 4 hotels under the umbrella of Ayers Rock Resort. We also saw where they do the camel rides but we passed on that. We decided to do an easy pool day today since tomorrow we will be up for the 5:15 sunrise trip to Uluru and then we leave for Cairns. I did yesterday's blog and then we went cooled off in the pool. We spent about 3 hours at the pool jockeying for those shade spots so not to burn this tender northern skin. The waiter came around and we enjoyed a drink - after all they keep telling us to hydrate. At 4:00 we went back to the room for tea and got our things ready for our early morning expedition tomorrow. We also packed our bags as we will be catching the bus to the airport by 10:30. For dinner we went back to the Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge and had a light dinner just salad and Ron had a wrap. It's early to bed for us with a 4:45 wake up call - we have to beat the heat.

Had to try it - it is as bad as we'd heard!

Views of the grounds - doesn't look like desert

The pool - a welcome relief from the heat
